A Pioneer in South African Fertility Medicine
Dr Marienus Trouw is the founder and senior reproductive medicine specialist at PTA Fertility Centre. Since establishing the practice in 1999, he has dedicated his career to helping individuals and couples achieve their dream of parenthood through advanced reproductive technologies and compassionate, personalised care.
Education & Training
Dr Trouw completed his medical degree (MBChB) and Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MMed O&G) at the University of Pretoria. He subsequently obtained his Fellowship of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa — FCOG(SA) — demonstrating specialist-level expertise in women's reproductive health.
His passion for reproductive medicine led him to pursue further specialisation internationally. He obtained his Diploma in Reproductive Medicine at the renowned Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, one of Europe's leading centres for fertility research and training. This was followed by additional training at fertility centres in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he gained exposure to Scandinavian approaches to assisted reproduction.

He served as Academic Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Steve Biko Academic Hospital (University of Pretoria), where he mentored the next generation of specialists and contributed to advancing the field of reproductive medicine in South Africa.
